How to Pray Scripture Over Each Room of Your Home
It was in a tough season of parenting when the Lord first prompted me to pray Scripture over each room of my home. Our morning had been filled with tantrums and tears, by both me and my children. As I waved good-bye to them as they headed for school, I knew I needed to reclaim my heart and home for the Lord.
I refused to give the enemy a foothold in my family and knew the best way to battle evil was through prayer.
With desperate tears and fervent prayers, I fell to my knees in each room of my home. Since that day, I’ve prayed many war room prayers over the rooms of my home, often while cleaning or organizing.

What is a prayer walk over your home?
A prayer walk is intentionally praying over each room of your home. During this time, you may feel the need to get on your knees and seek God for wisdom, direction, salvation, and hope for your family. Prayer walks are a great way to bring God’s truth to each room of your home and invite Him to be Lord of your home and life.
Sometimes it can be intimidating to pray with such boldness or intimidating to get on your knees before the Lord. Other times praying through your home can seem dry and rehearsed. Regardless of where you find yourself, try starting with one room at a time, then gradually adding another room.
Trust that God will meet you where you are spiritually and help you pray, even when you don’t have the words.

How to Pray Scripture Over Each Room of Your Home
As you get started on this journey, there are a few options on how to do this. First, you can have an intentional prayer walk and purposefully go into each room and pray.
Or, you can make this a more natural part of your day and pray as you clean your home and tidy up.
Then, as you enter each room, pray for your family and ask God to be the center of your lives.

In the family room
Pray that God would unite your family in Him and your family relationships would be built on a foundation of faith. May this room be filled with love, laughter, and a place where you gather together in unity.
“But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15
In the kitchen
Pray that your conversations would be full of flavor for the Lord and for the opportunity to minister to others through hospitality in your home. May your home be a welcoming atmosphere that radiates love and truth to all who enter.
“Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” Romans 12:13
In the dining room
Pray for fellowship with others and that your home would be an inviting place to share the Gospel over a meal and conversation. May this room be a place to encourage all who enter with biblical wisdom and God’s love.
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24-25
In the laundry room (or as you’re folding clothes)
Praise God for the gift of clothes, your home, and His faithful provision over your life. Celebrate how God has provided and been faithful to you and your family.
“He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.” Deuteronomy 32:4
In the master bedroom
Pray that God would be glorified in your marriage and for a hedge of protection around your relationship. May this room be filled with love and grace towards each other, just as God lavished love and grace on you. Together, may you stand firm on God’s promises and make Him the center of your household.
“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” Ephesians 4:2-3
In the kids’ bedrooms
Pray for the person who resides in that room, for their salvation, and that God would come first in their life. May this room be a place where God is honored, even when the door is closed, and where He would get a hold of your child’s life and never let go.
“Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.” Psalm 86:11
In the bathrooms
Pray for the health and wellness of your family, that God would protect your health, and healing for those in need. May this room be a symbol of God’s grace as you trust the Lord to wash away sin and guilt with the blood of Jesus. Praise Him for grace and mercy you could never earn on your own.
“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10
