No matter their age, their stage of life, or what is going on in their lives–we can pray for them.

We can lift them and their needs up to our heavenly Father.

But, where do we start?

What are the best and most effective ways we can pray for our kids?

Here are My 5 Favorite Ways to Pray For My Kids:

1} Pray that your kids will grow up and mature in wisdom, in stature, and in favor with God and man.

“And Jesus increased in wisdom (in broad and full understanding) and in stature and years, and in favor with God and man.” (Luke 2:52, AMPC)

Prayer – “Father, allow _______ to be like Jesus and to grow and to increase in wisdom. Give _______ broad and full understanding and great insights. Allow _______ to grow and increase in stature, in maturity, and in strength. And, give _______ great favor with both with God and with men. Grant _______ favor with his/her teachers, coaches, instructors, friends, teammates, and with family members.”

2} Pray for Them to Have Godly Friends.

“Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.” (Proverbs 13:20, NLT)

In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.” (Jeremiah 29:12-13, NLT)

“Thank You for listening when we pray. Encourage _________ to pray. And, put in ____________ ‘s heart a desire to look for You wholeheartedly. Thank You that ____________ will find You if they seek after You with their whole heart.”

5} Pray for your children’s protection and safety.

Thank you so much for these fabulous prayers, Melanie! It truly is a blessing to have a guide to pray as a busy mom. Your wisdom as a mother is so inspiring! Thank you for taking part in The Strong Family Project!

  2. We’re in the midst of making a lot of decisions about my son going to college and in trying to get clarity, God led me to Prov 23:19 “My son, listen and be wise. Keep your heart on the right path.” a very simple verse that reminds me that when all the details of a decision seem to crowd the landscape, back up and remember that the main thing is to make those choices with focus on “keeping your heart on the right path.” This is a prayer that I think fits any situation and age too.

    1. Sarah Ann says:

What a beautiful verse to claim in all situations. It’s amazing how God provides key verses for our lives when we need them most!

  3. Melanie,
I love these prayers with fill-in-the-blanks. I think there are times our overwhelm is big and having these kinds of prayers gives us the words we are searching for. They also help us align and learn how to pray scripture.
Thank you also for sharing the powerful hope we have through prayer. My own prayer for my link-up was that God would bring powerful messages of hope each Monday where His Name, His glory, His power, and His hope are shared! Your heart and words are an answer to that prayer each week!
    Hugs,
    Lori
