Daily Prayers for Stressed Out Moms

If you have someone in your life who calls you, “Mom,” you know stress. Sometimes it’s the every day stresses of feeding, clothing, and refereeing the kids. Yet other seasons bring heavier situations, such as a sick child or learning difficulties. Either way, if you’re a mom, chances are you’ve experienced stress at one point or another.

Unfortunately, feeling stressed is part of life. You won’t find any Scripture telling you, “Thou shalt not feel stressed.”

What the Bible does tell you is to “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you…” (Psalm 55:22).

And He provide a way to thrive in stressful seasons…

The biblical way to handle stress

Our problem with stress management comes when fail to handle it well. (Insert guilty head hang here). Quickly our stress turns to overwhelm, anxiety,  anger, self-pity, etc…

Yet God has given us the perfect solution for conquering stressful seasons: thanksgiving and prayer. (See my secret weapon for dealing with messy emotions, here!)

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

If you’re searching for God’s peace that surpasses all understanding, these prayers will help you press pause and connect with God in moments of overwhelm. Each prayer includes a verse or passage to focus your heart on Jesus throughout the ups and downs of your day.

However, don’t forget about the other key to overcoming anxiety: thanksgiving! Preface each prayer by thanking God for His many blessings (even if those blessings are exactly what’s (or who’s) driving you to your knees.)

My favorite way to praise God is using the A-Z Prayers and 25 Names of God to Pray as tangible resources to jump start my prayer life. It’s the perfect prayer resource for when I’m tired and need to remember the countless reasons I have to praise God!

Daily Prayers for Stressed Out Moms

Monday

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3.

Lord, I want to fully trust You today. Help me to keep my mind on You, even in the crazy chaos of my day. Also, anchor my soul to your peace instead of focusing my thoughts on my momentary troubles.

Tuesday

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26

Without Your strength today, Lord, stress may overcome me and win. Strengthen my heart, Lord, and help me to find joy in you, even in stressful situations. Help me to pause and pray in moments I’m overwhelmed and walk away from chaos if I can.

Wednesday

When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Your consolations delight my soul. Psalm 94:19

Even in the midst of chaos, give me joy and delight in You. Grant me wisdom in tough moments to remember that you are my hope!  Then, help me to meditate on your Word and hide your promises in my heart in times I struggle to keep going.  My circumstances do not dictate my joy!

Thursday

The steps of a man are established by the Lord and He delights in his way. When he falls, he will not be hurdled headlong, because the Lord is the One who holds his hand. Psalm 37:23-24

Father, You’ve called me to this role as a mom and you’ve united my family together according to your will. While I know that motherhood is a gift,  I often fail to remember this once the stress takes over. Pull me back up, Lord, and hold fast to my wandering heart. Then, give me victory in your name and help me not be a slave to messy emotions!

Friday

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30

It’s been a stressful week. The burden is heavy and stress is threatening to consume me. Jesus,  provide rest for my weary soul and restore my spirit in you alone. I’m trusting Your promises for restoration and peace!

Saturday

For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.” Isaiah 41:13

You are always by my side, guiding me and holding me. Thank You! Help me to not fear what the future holds for my babies. Also, teach me to not be afraid of failing them, but instead fully rely on Your ever-present help.

Sunday

The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. Psalm 23:1-3a

Lead me to refreshment, Lord. I want to drink from Your water of life and find restoration in your perfect peace. Let me rest in Your arms as one week closes and I look to another. Renew my strength for the calling You have given me. Then, help me finish the journey of motherhood standing on your hope, joy, and strength.
