Change Your Life in 5 Easy Steps

The winds of change have been brewing, and you see the ominous storm clouds circling ahead.

You can feel it in your spirit that something big is going to happen, and for the first time, you believe it’s possible to change your ways.

You don’t just yearn for change, you are desperate for it; believing that in order to live to the fullest life you can, you must take a step of faith towards the great unknown.

Have you ever been there, at a crossroads where change, as scary as it may be, was less terrifying than the status quo?

Change Your Life in 5 Easy Steps

Change is not only possible, it’s also freeing to spread your wings and fly, as new old habits are chiseled away and new ones are established.

Personal growth is not just doable, but it’s essential for a healthy, well-balanced life.

Have you noticed that change seems to fall into three categories, physical, emotional, and spiritual? Personally there have been times in my life where I have made huge changes in all three categories of my life.

Regardless of what your change you’re longing for, whether losing weight or growing in your relationship with the Lord, these easy steps towards change will help you become the person God is calling you to be.

That’s right, friends, sometimes God calls us to change.

He calls us to abandon all and follow Him.

He calls us to be the healthiest self we can be, physically and emotionally, so we can focus on serving Him.

He calls us to mature in faith and desire to know Him more.

The best part is, He’s by your side every step of the way.

He’s holding your hand as you make the commitment to move towards change.

He’ll give you strength and self-control in moments of weakness.

He’ll lavish you with grace in times when you fall.

So what are you waiting for?  It’s time to change!

Just start

Change doesn’t happen without action.  No amount of wishing or hoping will make the change for you.  You must move and take baby steps towards change.

Yes, baby steps.  While it’s tempting to be gung-ho and go crazy with grand plans of a brand new you, allow yourself baby steps, no matter how small, towards a healthier life.

Gradual shifts in mind-set will allow the changes to be more permanent and you will be creating patterns of a healthier life.

On my weight loss journey, I focused on moving everyday, and eventually got a gym membership and fell in love with weight training. {Read my story here}.

Starting small helped me build healthy new habits that led to permanent change.

I love that in this modern age there are so many resources at our fingertips to aid with healthy new habits.  There’s apps to track your weight, {I love My Fitness Pal}, to help you grow spiritually {I recommend the YouVersion Bible App} and even an app to help regulate your breathing and manage stress {visit Breathe 2 Relax}.

Change Quote Faith Along the Way

Believe in yourself

When you long for change, you have to believe that it IS possible.  You have to believe that God WILL lead you down a path to a healthier you.  You have to KNOW that even though it may be hard, God has given you the strength to fight temptation as you continue to change.

Don’t Give Up

I wasted many years of my life being paralyzed by the fear of wanting to change, but then failing.  I gave up way too easily and stopped trying.  In order for change to happen, you need to continue to move towards it and not stop! Ever!

When you see permanent change happen in your life, never look back!  Keep pressing on and embrace who God has called you to be!

Enjoy the Ride

Change is a journey, one filled with valleys and peaks, but a scenic view.  Don’t miss it.  Record it in the depths of your heart, write it in a journal, and let God fill your soul as He leads the way.  More times than not, life isn’t about arriving at a destination, but about the miles of dedication and faith that it took to keep moving.

Make a plan to change your life and just start, bathing every step in prayer and asking for God’s guidance!

You can do it!

  1. I just learned how to use MyFitnessPal and am really enjoying it (most days, lol). I like this advice! One thing I’ve been convicted of this past year is that failing to believe I can change is really a failure to believe that God is working in me. It seems a whole lot more serious when I put it to myself that way.

    1. That is beautiful and a much needed reminder! It’s amazing how we can draw strength from the Lord to stand up and keep going! Thanks for the words of wisdom!

  2. This reminds me of the saying, “Growing things change.” If we’re growing in our walk with the Lord we’re changing – to be more like Him. And with that growth and change come the faith to make other changes within our lives. Growth in knowledge and love for the Lord allows us to trust Him as things change within our lives and as He calls us to do hard things for His honor and glory!

Thanks for sharing and for linking up at Grace & Truth this week! I hope you’ll join us again next week!
