5 Ways to Pursue Your Husband

This coming July marks the 16th wedding anniversary for my husband and me. Boy, oh boy, have I learned so much and have come so far in my marriage. Thank God for His grace, mercy, and guidance. What a blessing I have been given.

One lesson I’ve learned is the importance of pursuing each other.  I believe this one thing can make or break a marriage.

I know for me, when my husband takes the time to fill up my love bucket, shows appreciation and makes an effort; I feel closer to him, cherished and loved.

Husbands need to feel respected and loved.

Pursue your man, ladies!

As Christian wives, God calls us to pursue our spouses whether they return the pursuit or not. Of course, marriage as a whole functions so much better when both spouses submit to God and honor their spouses, but reality is – sometimes you have to fight for your marriage.

Do you practice these 5 ways to pursue your husband in your marriage? These tips can strengthen and mold your relationship !

5 Ways To Pursue Your Husband

Pray for him.

Pray for your man! I’m not speaking of a “Lord change him!” kind of prayer. Be humble asking God to bless, help and change you both into the man and woman He wants you to be. Pray the Armor of God over your husband. The enemy is out to get your him, because he is the head of the house. The enemy knows if he can get your husband, it opens the whole family up to attacks. Pray for wisdom, protection and joy is envelope your husband.

May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my rock and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14

Flirt with him.

Smack his toosh when he walks by, give him a big smile in the morning and tell him “good morning, sexy”. Don’t leave it up to him to always initiate intimacy, play with him, laugh together, chase him around the house, wink at him from across the table, give him a hug and a kiss when he walks in the door, make his favorite food a couple of times a week and send him a sexy text message every once in a while. *wink wink*

May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth. Proverbs 5:18

Make your home a safe place

Your husband has had a long, hard day at work, the last thing he needs is to come home to a messy house, complaining wife and nothing but negative vibes oozing from every corner of your home. Not that your home must be perfect, but keep it tidied. Usually your husband will come home around the same time everyday, so an hour before he walks in that door, go freshen yourself up, tidy the house and start preparing dinner. Be ready when he walks in the door with a smile, a big hug and maybe even a tall glass of his favorite drink. If there is bad news that must be talked about, wait till your husband has had time to unwind from his day at work before bringing it up. Choose your words carefully, putting a filter over your mouth. Let your words and attitude be full of grace, mercy, love and encouragement.

The wise woman builds her house, but the foolish tears it down with her own hands. Proverbs 14:1

Put a filter over your mouth

The Bible tells us that it is better for a man to live in a desert than with a wife that nags. EEKKK! God created us and knows us women so well. Let your words be uplifting and encouraging. Do not nag. Of course, men are not mind readers and we must communicate in a positive way to each other. Remember to put a filter over your mouth. Communicate with your husband about your needs and trust him and God to fill those needs.

It is better to live in a desert land than with a quarrelsome and fretful woman. Proverbs 21:19

Happily serve him

Everyday ask him if there is anything that you might be able to do for him or help him with. Of course, always within reason. Remember, you are both on the same team, you are both partners in the same race; act like it. Let him know you are for him and you are excited to see him succeed.

She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life. Proverbs 31:12
