Like many things, the world has a warped view of using affirmations. They often promote self-reliance and encourage one to “manifest” the situations and life they want. That’s simply not biblical.
But when affirmations are rooted in biblical truth and anchored in Scripture, they have the power to help you live an abundant life in Christ – especially when it comes to breaking free from shame, guilt, and failure.

How can daily affirmations help me break free from mistakes of the past?
As Christians, God’s grace has set us free from our mistakes, but we may struggle to believe it and live it. There is an ongoing transformation taking place, even if the refining process is gradual.
We can trust that once we have a personal relationship with Jesus, our slate has been wiped and all of our missteps have been forgiven.
2 Corinthians 5:17, reminds us that God is refining our character and in Him, we are made new!
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
Instead, of wallowing in shame or being caught up in our failures, we can renew our mind with biblical truths. Reciting biblical affirmations can help us reset our heart on God’s promises and fill our mind with Scripture instead of the lies of the world.
Daily affirmations help us:

I am completely and wholly loved by God.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
Be encouraged to know that God LOVES YOU COMPLETELY. He wants you to accept and embrace the fullness of His love, which includes grace and freedom poured out for you at the cross. God’s perfect love fills all voids and can eclipse even our loneliest, darkest day.
Jesus died on the cross for ME and in Him I am complete.
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
Scripture reminds us that there is no greater love than for a man to lay his life down for his friends. Jesus did this for you and I and we can rest assured knowing that this very act is one that secures our identity in Him.
While we may wander and search for things to fill the void within, we are actually complete and made whole in Christ.
God loves me despite my shortcomings and His grace covers all my missteps.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)
Know that there is no sin that surprises God and you’re never out of reach of His amazing grace. In fact, He wants us to make confession a regular part of our life so He can fill us with grace and mercy.
No matter how far you feel you’ve fallen, you’re never too far gone for God to forgive, refine, and use you for His glory.
I am made whole and able for the tasks ahead because of God’s strength.
Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.” (Isaiah 12:2)
Sometimes we may try to do things in our own power. It’s easy to let the world tell us on our own we are strong and able.
But Scripture reminds us that God is our true source of strength and apart from Him, we won’t get very far. In Christ we are able to carry out the work He has planned for us and to live an abundant life because of Him.
God has a perfect plan for my life and will guide my path.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)
There are numerous Scriptures that speak of God having a plan and directing your steps. While it’s not always easy, we should embrace His plans for our lives knowing that they are perfect and always work for our good and His glory. While that path will not be smooth or void of heartache, we can trust that God will use our life to glorify Him if we let Him.
True satisfaction and joy comes from Christ alone.
For you make me glad by your deeds, Lord; I sing for joy at what your hands have done. (Psalm 92:4)
Despite what the world may show, true happiness can only be found in Christ. Nothing on earth will ever fill or satisfy us the way God’s love completes us. He alone is our source of true joy and provides true soul satisfaction.
My worth and identity lie in Christ alone, not in what I am able to produce or provide for others.

You were fearfully and wonderfully made for a unique purpose, and for such a time as this. Do not be sidetracked with the trappings of this world, but have faith that your tasks on earth do not define you.
You are worthy and able to live a purpose-filled life because of God’s grace and love for you. Even if you fail or feel unworthy, remember where your identity lies. YOU are daughter of the King!
My flesh is weak and will fail, but God’s grace will cover all my shortcomings.

God understood that we would be weak and need a Savior. He didn’t leave us to wallow in our sin, but instead, provided Jesus as the ultimate rescue plan for all mankind.
We can be thankful that He sent us Jesus and the Holy Spirit to guide us, and gives us grace for when we fail or go astray.
In Christ I am free from the trappings of sin and no longer a slave to issues that hold me back.
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1)
In Christ, YOU ARE FREE! You are no longer bound to the sins that held you back. It’s time to move forward in Christ!
Therefore, stop pondering past sins or allow guilt, shame and failure keep you stagnant. Instead, believe you are forgiven and have been set free from the bondages of sin. Turn away from darkness and towards the amazing grace of God. YOU ARE NOT THE SAME!
Through Christ, not my own strength or actions, all things are possible.
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” (Mark 10:27)
Stepping into the abundant life God has for you includes realizing that you fully and wholeheartedly rely on the Lord. You relinquish your own striving and trying to live apart from God.
Instead, we can have full assurance and faith in knowing that with Him all things are possible. Also, you know life is better done in His strength, not yours. And you know, He is the King of possible and He is able to make a way, even when there seems to be no way.
I have hope for the future because of God’s character and despite the circumstances I face.
I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. (Psalm 16:8)
One of the best things we can have in our Christian walk is hope in God and hope in the future He has planned for us. Regardless of what happens in life, we know that His mercies are new every morning and we can stand firm in His goodness. Even when the storms of life threaten to consume us whole, we have hope in God’s flawless character and unwavering love for us. As children of God, we live this life longing for heaven and hope in an eternity spent with Him.
